150ish is collaboration between two good friends, Francesca and Marisa. Francesca Pardo is a graphic designer whose grandparents always planted a grand vegetable garden, butchered their own meat, and made everything from scratch. She is as comfortable in the kitchen as she is behind the computer keyboard. Marisa Bulzone is a long-time cookbook editor who has collaborated with many of the world’s best chefs, but still thinks that no one makes better meatballs than her mother. Yes, that’s right, we’re both Italian, so it’s in our genes—we love good food!
We’ve been sharing our passion for great local resources with our friends and families for years—so why not share it with everyone? That’s why we created 150ish.
Each week we feature our pick for the best in locally produced food and drink. From arugula to Angus beef, pies to pickles, wine to whiskey, we’re scouting the green markets and roaming the back roads and rooftops to bring you what we’ve bought, tasted, and liked. You’ll learn about the products and the people who make them—and sometimes you’ll get a recipe too.
Throughout the year we follow the artisan food culture, from the latest entrepreneurial food incubators to the unsung classics beloved by generations. Developed by food lovers for food lovers, 150ish brings you the best of the boroughs, the tri-state area, and beyond-ish.
